the GROUP
“GOING GOSPEL” polyphonic choir, with approximately 30 elements, was formed in September 1999 by non professional singers who offer their "work" for free by performing concerts dedicated to beneficial purposes. The choir is based in Rome, Italy.
The choir is conducted by M° Giacomo Dell’Orso who, with his experience based on many years of work for TV, cinema and record industries, has tried to give a particular personality to the choir, avoiding to turn it into a bad copy of real Afro-American choirs that are more at ease with Spiritual & Gospel both for language and tradition.
For this reason songs have been elaborated using European characterisations, with elements of Gregorian chant and counterpoint that has been harmonised with some swing and rock allowing choreographers to propose sometimes rather strong movements, obviously with the natural limitations of the non professional characteristics of the singers, who also become the musicians of the group when necessary.
There is the participation, with his flute, of professor Renzo Andreini, old friend and music session partner of M' Dell'Orso since the Sixties...
